Honesty is the best policy


Honesty is usually defined as the willingness to tell the truth. An honest person finds it difficult to lie.

Since in our daily lives we get forced to lie, even in the most innocent way, we cannot call ourselves "honest".

However, the main meaning of this adjective is to tell the truth in important situations. An honest person will never steal or help others steal. An honest person will never withhold his or her mistakes (specially when they caused an important damage).

Nowadays, it is getting more and more difficult for honest people to succeed. In this society it is more important to keep a veneer than to rectify what is wrong.

Everyday we see how corrupt people get richer while honest people die poor. We see people getting fired because they didn't "play along" with their bosses.

To keep honest in this society is difficult, but is possible. It is worse to do things that cause damage to thirds, it is worse to lie to ourselves, it is worse when you can't sleep at night knowing that you are not doing things well.

I prefer to be honest. What do you prefer?

The Bold and the Bashful

Hello, everyone, We all certainly have personality traits that distinguish us from each other. Unit three tells us about two very specific features, which are boldness and bashfulness. In my view, it is funny to see that people would talk about these two features as completely separated from each other to describe others. That is, I do not believe they can be used this way. We cannot use either of these adjectives to entirely describe a person because no one is one thing or the other in its entirety. That is to say, even the people you might consider that possess a great amount of boldness are somehow also bashful, and the same thing occurs with people who are bashful; they can also be bold depending on the circumstances.
