Honesty is the best policy

In this unit we saw that honesty is an important value that few people have. We discussed about plagiarism which is to copy other people’s idea and use it as yours. This is something widely spread. People even do it unconsciously when they look for information and they don’t give credit to the author.

An idea was brought forward. The university was about to install a software able to detect plagiarism. Students think of this idea as invasive. It would definitely affect the relation between students and teachers. Moreover, Students think it will fuel mistrust in the whole university.

What are lies?

They are statements we say to mislead people. There are different reasons why people lie such as: avoid getting punished, get a reward, to protect somebody from being punished, protect yourself from physical harm, win the admiration of others or impress them, to get out of awkward situations, avoid embarrassment, keep your privacy, etc.

Furthermore, There are people with such self-esteem that they become narcissistic, they have an inflated sense of themselves and they think they are clever enough to get away with cheating.

10-Intrusive: Installing cameras everywhere can be considered intrusive.

11-Erosion: Not recognizing his good job caused and erosion on his enthusiasm.

12-Inflated: She has always had an inflated sense of herself.
