Honesty is the Best Policy

This unit is about honesty, how important is to tell the truth and to be confident with others.It also mentions the disadvantages about being an honest person. Sometimes we get in trouble being too honest and can even cause problems to someone else even   if it’s your best friend or a relative.

According to the topic on the book there are different kind of lies:

White lies which are not considered bad or not so serious.

Seemingly harmless which are the kind of lies that seem not offensive or harmful.

The little white lies are the one that people tell in order to be polite.

They are lies more serious than those that I already mentioned. Some lies can affect in a serious manner someone else life.

   I want to share an example about this last kind of lies

When I was a child I used to have many fights with my youngest sister who is only three hundred sixty one days younger than me. In our neighborhood was a cat that went to my house everyday most of the time. My mother had in the living room a shell full of slabs. One day my sister and I were having a fight and accidentally we knocked the shell down (it was easy because was not heavy enough). Most of the slabs were broken. As soon as we realized about the huge trouble we were in, we invented a story to tell to my mother. When my mother came home we said that the cat jumped on the shell and with her nails he pulled a knitted clothe that was on the top of the shell and that it was the moment when the shell fell down.

My mother was too annoyed. She finally decided to take the cat and gave her to a friend who  lives i
n a little town not so far from the place my parents live.

The owner of the cat was looking for her several days. My sister and I never said the truth.

During our childhood we forgot that story, but when we became older it came on our minds causing a really bad feeling.
