Internet Addiction
Internet Addiction
I would like to give a general definition of what an addiction is. Addiction
is a complex disease involving changes to the brain. Besides internet addiction,
which is the one I am going to deal with, people can get addicted to a range of
things like: gambling, food, alcohol, sex, video games or work.
No one is destined from birth to become an addict later in life. Certain
genetic factors increase the likelihood of addiction, but so do experiences
that affect how the brain develops.
