The Bold and the Bashful


Our personality makes us different to the rest. It makes people remember us in a particular way.

Even though there are a lot of personalities, people are usually divided in two: bold and bashful.

A bold person is usually that guy who always raise his hands in class, or that girl who loves to sing aloud everywhere, or this child who likes to talk to strangers. Those are typical behaviors of an extrovert person, a person who does not feel afraid to fail or to look ridiculous. A bold person hardly ever care about what others think about them.

A bashfull person, in the other hand, likes to be quite, maybe reading a book, listening to music or simply using his/her cellphone. His/her personality makes it difficult for them to meet people, express their needs and to get good grades, sometimes.

I think we are all afraid to fail, and this is something that makes us feel insecure and nervous when we are facing a stressful situation. This fear is not exclusive of bashfull people, but of everybody.

What is important here is to defeat our fears. I consider myself a bashful person, because that's how I am in front of people I do not know. I hate to make presentations and saying my opinion in front of strangers.

However, that doesn't mean I do not survive. In my job I have to speak to different kind of people every single day, I have made job interviews, I have translated meetings and I have given advices to my bosses.

I think that being introvert doesn't harm anybody and doesn't limit anybody, what limits us is shyness and, like all our fears, it has to be defeated everyday.

Hello, everyone, We all certainly have personality traits that distinguish us from each other. Unit three tells us about two very specific features, which are boldness and bashfulness. In my view, it is funny to see that people would talk about these two features as completely separated from each other to describe others. That is, I do not believe they can be used this way. We cannot use either of these adjectives to entirely describe a person because no one is one thing or the other in its entirety. That is to say, even the people you might consider that possess a great amount of boldness are somehow also bashful, and the same thing occurs with people who are bashful; they can also be bold depending on the circumstances.
