Workplace privacy

Hi everyone! In the previous unit we talked about how employers have been strongly working on privacy in workplaces by installing cameras, using hidden software (which allow employers to monitor any activity on a computer), or just physical monitoring. The followings were just some of the methods employers use to monitor and over look their employees. Now, I think as long as an employee is told that he or she will be supervised while working, everything will be alright. I mean, They have the right to do it because is their company.
On the other hand, if someone is not told about his rights and obligations when getting a job, that may lead to a controversy among employees and employers. How come an employer can check my email by using email transparency without my permission? That's illegal! I do understand they pay us for doing something. However, we, employees, have the right to know about privacy policies a workplace have, so that we can know what we are getting into.
What do you think? Should employers monitor everything you do just because the pay employees a wage? Aren't employees allowed to know about the privacy policies a company has? Is it ok to be recorded 24/7 while working? Let me know!
Here are two links where you can check some methods used by companies to monitor employee's computers, and other about a video explaining why you need workplace policies and procedures:
