The Internet and Other Addictions

Hi there, everyone, The Internet could be defined by most people nowadays as simply ‘everything’. Although it is true that the Internet has brought along many positive things for all of us, it is also important to broach the subject of the addictions it has caused and is still causing on our society. People have forgotten many things that were formerly essential to them: socializing has decreased in general; some people no longer go out with friends, and so forth. As time has rolled by after the Internet came into our lives, it has become imperative that people use it for different purposes. I believe that is precisely where the problem lies: in the employment given to it by people, but also, in how long it is used. I have heard of many people that cannot think of anything else during the day and wait impatiently to come out of work and/or school so they can use their phones and other devices. Nonetheless, there are people that do not even stop using their devices while at work ...

The Bold and the Bashful

Hi, everyone! This unit is about the different kind of personalities. Bold that means outgoing and friendly  and bashful that means shy. It was also about optimist and pessimist personalities. Like those words I did not know (bold and bashful) I learned many words. Now, I'm going to create some sentences with words that I learned in this unit. Reticent : my youngest sister is a reticent person. She never wants to share her emotions, feelings or ideas. Phobia:  most of the women have phobia of snakes, spiders, and frogs. Merit : my neighbor's crime was serious enough to merit a sentence. Extroverted : when I was younger I was a shy person in school, but since I became older I am more extroverted. Adverse : my mother's flight was canceled yesterday because an adverse weather conditions in Punta Cana. Chronic : my doctor said that I'm worst now because of my chronic anemia. Kindred soul : my sister is at least married, she found her kindred soul. Misattribut...

Honesty is the Best Policy

This unit is about honesty, how important is to tell the truth and to be confident with others. It also mentions the disadvantages about being an honest person. Sometimes we get in trouble being too honest and can even cause problems to someone else even   if it’s your best friend or a relative. According to the topic on the book there are different kind of lies: White lies which are not considered bad or not so serious. Seemingly harmless which are the kind of lies that seem not offensive or harmful. The little white lies are the one that people tell in order to be polite. They are lies more serious than those that I already mentioned. Some lies can affect in a serious manner someone else life.    I want to share an example about this last kind of lies When I was a child I used to have many fights with my youngest sister who is only three hundred sixty one days younger than me. In our neighborhood was a cat that went to my house everyday most of the ti...

The Internet and Other Addictions

The Internet and Others Addiction. Hello everyone. This unit is about Internet an OTHER addictions, but we put emphasis on Internet additions. Internet addition is becoming common these days and maybe most of us have this problem and do not even realize about that. It doesn't mean that using internet is bad or dangerous.   Because this unit is basically about religion, I’d like to talk about my experience when I was Christian. When I used to devote my time to this religion, I was really different from now. The truth is that you really feel like your life is changed by a mighty being that you can’t see, but feel. I mean, comparing my current life to the one I used to have, I’ve got to be honest, I rather the one I had. I don’t mean that I’m not happy, don’t misunderstand me, what I really mean is, once you decide to take the step of accepting Jesus Christ as your only savior, you feel how things change: your life, your behavior… It’s something difficult to explain with words, but somehow is like a drastic change that affect your life, and the ones around you for good. I know you’ll be wondering why I haven’t redeemed myself and return to the path of Christianity. Well, the answer is time . I’m not hypocrite. How can I tell you that I follow any religion if I don’t even dedicate at least o...
