Workplace privacy

    Workplace privacy

These days some people feel their privacy rights are being violated. Most companies rely on computers and electronic mail to do their business. Employers are monitoring the use of technology that their workers do. Sometimes employees feel demeaned by surveillance but I think employers have the right to monitor the workers to see their efficiency as long as they do not disrespect employees' privacy. They should not use cameras in private places such as restrooms because that would not be legitimate.

On the other hand, employees should not disrespect their workplaces by using electronic devices and internet to do certain things that affect their productivity. Chatting or watching porn videos are not part of their duties so they should not do those kind of things at work. In those cases monitoring is a good alternative.
